SCRAPS

Scraps is set in a post-apocalyptic future where Scrappers scavenge the wastes and take missions from the Basts, the elite who live in the Bastions, luxurious skyrises.

A BRIDGE APART
Traverse a decaying bridge by using your Grav-Null gun to activate generators that power light bridges, avoid gun turrets, and complete your mission to find a stuffed cat that Sam, a missing Scrapper, was tasked to find.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Storyboards, diagrams, flow charts

  • Level block-out and design

  • Prototyping and completing level and features

  • Using pre-made tools and systems for feature design and balancing

  • Dialogue and Mission Narrative

OVERVIEW

Task - Using the existing systems and keeping inline with the creative vision of Scraps, create a new interactive level with two new features and a mission objective.

Idea - Incorporate the division between Basts and Scrappers into a bridge level.

Challenges

  • Completing entire level concept and design completion

  • Creating unique engaging features for player interaction 

  • My cat, Texas, passed away during development so I incorporated her into the level

Process

  • Keep inline with creative vision doc

  • Create bubble diagrams and LDD to conceptualize and plan level design

  • Probuilder and existing props for level creation 

  • Use IPM (Introduce, Practice, Master) technique for level features and flow

  • Use dialogue system for mission narrative
